The Pirika, Hoost and McGinity children sold cookies and cold lemonade to make some pocket money during the school holidays and had local Rolleston police officer, Constable Blair Croucher visit their stand to encourage them.
“He brought them drinks, chocolates and pictures to colour in and showed them how the police car works including the communication equipment, lights, siren and other items they use,” says Gretchen Pirika.
“He explained what he and his colleagues get up to during their work days and was very interactive with the children. He then got a call-out and had to leave in a hurry, which added to the children’s excitement. They were absolutely stoked and apparently
it has made their holidays totally awesome.
“The police do not get enough praise for all the good they do in our communities, and we are grateful to Constable Croucher for taking the time out of his schedule to interact with our children and give them a positive experience.”
