Tuesday last week became even more special for the students of Waitaha School and Te Rito Harakeke Satellite at Rolleston College.

It was the day that each student at the special education school was presented with a pair of sports shoes from the Shoe Clinic in Riccarton.

The school’s deputy principal, Liz McNaughton, said her students were extremely excited about receiving their shoes.

“It was just amazing. A wonderful donation by the Shoe Clinic and the staff and students are just so grateful to them.”

Shoe Clinic manager, Shaun Farrell, said the gift of the shoes was a great way to give something back to the community.

He and Shoe Clinic staff member, Anthony Jones, made the presentation in person and spent time with each student individually, measuring and ensuring the shoes were a perfect fit.
In total, the Shoe Clinic gave away 45 pairs of shoes.

The occasion was organised by Graeme Bain from Special Olympics New Zealand.
