The Rolleston Rugby Football Club clubrooms made the move to their new location at Foster Park on Monday night.

“The clubrooms have moved from the Rolleston Reserve to make way for a fantastic new town centre development. Rolleston RFC is looking forward to a new era at Foster Park,” says club representative Nicky Leonard.

The clubrooms were transported in two sections from their current site by Laing Properties to the new location near the rugby fields and new Foster Park changing rooms located on Dynes Road.

“We would like to thank the Selwyn District Council for their support and great communication throughout the process. Once the clubrooms are in place, more work will be needed to ensure the building is compliant with the building code and to install a concrete patio and other surrounding landscaping work.

“Once handed back to the club, we also intend to refurbish the building before the 2020 season begins. That includes moving the bar to open up the internal space, replacing all the floor coverings, painting the inside, updating the lights and purchasing new furniture.

“These works will be undertaken by volunteers associated with our club and will create a great place for not only rugby but also softball, touch and baseball to enjoy a family orientated environment for the whole community. Rolleston RFC is excited about the future at our new home at Foster Park.”

Work is also underway on the final stage of upgrades to this south-west area of Foster Park. McLenaghan Contracting has started construction of a new car park area off Dynes Road, which will provide 82 new parking spaces. It will bring the total number of car park spaces on the Foster Park site to 475.
