Something for everyone

There will be green fingers aplenty this Sunday when the West Melton Garden Club hosts the Selwyn Garden Expo at the West Melton Community Centre.

More than 50 exhibitors have signed up for the day and they, along with a raft of practical demonstrations, will make for a lively day for keen gardeners.

The keynote speaker, Lynda Hallinan, is scheduled for 3pm. Hallinan is a former editor of NZ Gardener, author and broadcaster. She promises an inspirational, informative and entertaining presentation.

Another highlight of the expo for many will be the appearance of costume and fabric artist Jenny Gillies. Jenny’s award-winning garden-themed designs are truly stunning and internationally renowned.
Many of her best pieces will be modelled at the expo.

Stalls at the expo include landscaping, tools, Italian cheeses, alpacas and alpaca products, limestone carvings, pottery garden art, specialty plants, fresh vegetables and also seedlings, manure for the garden, recycled garden art, saffron, wine, asparagus, peonies, herbs, travel tours, truffles, plus a huge variety of plants for sale, including special and rare plants. The Selwyn Garden Expo opens in the West Melton Community Centre on Sunday, December 1 at 12.30pm. Tickets, which are still on sale, are $15.
