The Selwyn Central Community Care wheelchair van will help transport people reliant on wheelchairs

Helping wheelchair users

Through the generosity of Hughes Developments Faringdon and with help from Care a Car and other local businesses, the Selwyn Central Community Care has purchased a Nissan Elgrand wheelchair van to help transport people who rely on wheelchairs.

“The sponsorship doesn’t stop there. Rolleston Diesel and Petrols will help us with car parts, tyres and other essentials that are not covered by the warranty and Holland Collision Centre will do any maintenance,” says chairperson Olive Webb.

“NPD Fuel has offered a discount on petrol, and Austin Bluewater is helping towards insurance costs.

“The van has been signwritten with our sponsors by Signtime, and all of this has come about because of the sterling and persuasive work of board member Neil Bennett. Neil’s vision is for people who are wheelchair bound to be able to get out together and socialise. This has been virtually impossible for many without a means of transportation.

“With the help of designated trained drivers we will be able to widen our services within the district and the van will also be available for transporting people to medical appointments.

“As with the other drives, there will be a small fee to help cover costs. We appreciate all the businesses and people who have helped make this possible.” For bookings or information contact Juliette on 027 313 1122.
