Nine-year-old Lilly Nurse and her mum Anna with special edition Plunket Christmas Stars

An evening of laughs

Selwyn Plunket is presenting an evening of comedy bingo with the Ethel & Bethel Bingo Babes — Plunket Christmas Edition.

The event is R18 and will be on Saturday, November 30 at Te Hapua Halswell Centre starting at 7 pm with doors opening at 6.30pm.

“We are very excited about the night as Ethel and Bethel are great at what they do, and it will be a lot of fun,” says Plunket community support coordinator Anna Nurse.

“It is our biggest combined fundraiser for the year. Funds raised go directly to Darfield, Rolleston, Lincoln, Prebbleton and Halswell Plunket rooms.

“Plunket in Selwyn has changed this year, and we now work as one region.

We are working toward everyone having access to all the services and plan to hold more family events to help prevent urban isolation. We want to give people opportunities to make new friends, whether through coffee groups, outings or special events.

“The fundraiser will also support Toy Libraries, playgroups, coffee groups, social events for under-fives and their families such as for the upcoming Christmas parties and so much more.” The night will have auction packages, raffles, a chocolate wheel, limited edition Plunket Christmas Stars, a Plunket Christmas CD that has a great range of Kiwi artists, keep cups and toy library memberships, which is the gift that keeps on giving.

“It is a great time to buy Christmas gifts. We will also have a wine wheel with some beautiful wines sponsored by Harcourts. We have had so much support from the community far and wide and we still have VIP and general admission spots available.

“Tickets are $30 each and include a grazing platter at your table, bottomless tea and coffee, one bingo board, dibs and the chance to win spot prizes, line prizes by Whittaker’s Chocolate Lovers and Bingo Prizes thanks to
Harcourts Four Seasons Realty and Wine Divine.”
