The Darfield Fire Brigade Open Day is an opportunity for children to meet the team

Meet your emergency team

Darfield Urban and Rural Fire Brigade is holding an open day on Saturday, September 21 from 11am to 2pm.

“We hold open days to let the community connect with us and see what we are about and how we work,” says chief fire officer Alan Kittelty.

“It is a good opportunity for children to see our fire appliances and meet the team so that if they ever need us, they are familiar with who we are.

There will be a variety of demonstrations and visitors can explore the fire trucks and equipment.”

Home fire safety advice and teaching material will be available on the day.

“Darfield has a rural and urban team, and we are always looking for volunteers to join. The crews now attend accidents, medical fires and other emergency situations.

“We rely on local businesses and individuals in various ways. Response team members look after their street ensuring people know how to look after themselves at times of emergency. They are an important part of the teams working in partnership.

“Come and have a chat, enjoy the sausage sizzle, book a home fire safety visit, meet the Community Response and Community Patrol Team and visit the Darfield Fire Museum and vintage fire engine. See you at the station — 21 North Terrace, Darfield.”
