The Magic Superheroes had a ton of fun with their scooters during the race while discovering different places around the city

Bringing the community together

The crew from the Christchurch Youth Council organised The Amazing Race, which was held this past weekend around Christchurch central and saw more than 200 people participate from across the region.

“We had adults, teenagers, grandparents and children participating from across the district including Selwyn, Hurunui and Kaikoura. It was really encouraging for us,” says co-organiser Piper Pengelly. As part of the Christchurch Youth Council, Nick Smith and I planned the event as something fun for the community. Participants were given three hours to follow a map with different stops, which involved orienteering as well.

“The community spirit was alive and well, and it was also a fundraiser for the youth hub. We couldn’t have done it without our many sponsors and volunteers, and it was well worth all the hard work.”
