Calling all artists
by Mike Isle
The Malvern Community Arts Council (MCAC) is pleased to accept applications from established, emerging and local artists who wish to exhibit at Darfield Artweek 2019.
Application forms are now at the Selwyn Gallery, 17 South Terrace, Darfield, or on their website: selwyngallery.co.nz/artweek.
Malvern Community Arts Council chair Philip Baldwyn said Darfield Artweek is an annual celebration of art that attracts entries from at least 130 artists in Selwyn District, the city of Christchurch and countrywide.
“We expect to exhibit over 300 artworks in the Darfield Recreation Centre.
At the same time, our own Selwyn Gallery will showcase some stunning work by members of Christchurch’s Textile and Fibre Arts Network.”
Baldwyn said the Artweek Committee is grateful to local businesses and the Friends of MCAC for their support of Artweek.
“Their generosity ensures that we can award significant prizes, including the $2,000 Premier Award, which is announced at the opening night function on Friday, October 11 at 7pm.”
Opening night tickets for the public can be purchased in advance for $15 from the Selwyn Gallery or for $20 at the door.
This year, Artweek runs from Saturday, October 12 to Sunday, October 20. Entry is free, with donations accepted.
