Support Pink Star Walks

The annual Pink Star Walk to support Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand is fast approaching and people are encouraged to join the fundraising events that will be held in Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington.

“It is known as the ‘pinkest walk of the year’ and helps raise funds for critical breast cancer research, support and education,” says Breast Cancer Foundation research and communications manager Adele Gautier.

“We are getting the word out now so people can prepare their costume and fundraising ideas.

“In New Zealand, nine women a day, more than 3,300 a year, are diagnosed with breast cancer, and approximately 25 men are diagnosed each year.

“With your help, we can continue saving lives through early detection, expanding horizons in breast cancer research and supporting
patients in their time of need. The walks are fun with a lot of unique outfits, and people bring their children and dogs along, and we have entertainment as well.”

The Queenstown Pink Star walk is on Sunday, October 13 at the Botanic Gardens.

The Christchurch event will take place on Saturday, October 19 at North Hagley Park.

Wellington is Saturday, November 9 at Frank Kitts Park, and the Auckland walk is on Saturday, November 16 at The Domain.

Early bird prices start at $35 and end on September 6. Children under six years old walk free.
