Wastewater consultation this week
by Mike Isle
The council is seeking feedback from the community on the possible development of a wastewater scheme for Darfield and Kirwee.
A meeting with businesses will be held at Darfield Library and Service Centre on Thursday June 217 at 1pm and a public meeting at the same location at 6pm.
Darfield and Kirwee are two of the largest unsewered communities in New Zealand.
In its 2017/18 Annual Plan, the council signalled that a joint working party involving representatives from Selwyn District Council, the Malvern Community Board, the Darfield and Kirwee Township Committees, Canterbury District Health Board and Environment Canterbury would further consider options for the possible establishment of a wastewater scheme for Darfield and Kirwee.
In its 2018/28 Long Term Plan, the council also promised that the joint working party would undertake consultation on the issue.
Anyone wishing to attend to attend these meetings should RSVP firstname.lastname@example.org.
A drop-in session will also be held on Saturday, 29 June 2019 at the same venue from 10am–1pm.
