Action from the Mainland Challenge
by Mike Isle
Mud, mud and more mud was the order of the day when the Canterbury Offroad Racing Club held its annual Mainland Challenge at West Melton last weekend.
Eleven classes of off-road trucks, buggies and UTV vehicles doing their best to cope with ground conditions and persistent rain made for great if noisy, entertainment. The overall winner for the weekend and Mainland Challenge champion for this year was Aucklander Mike Fraser. However, the drive of the meet was that of 15-year-old driver Brooke Storer who finished a credible second in one of her races despite losing a wheel mid-race.
