by Mike Isle
The NZ Ploughing Championships held last weekend at Chertsey were an outstanding success say the event’s organisers. Rakaia Ploughing Association president John Davison said that it was an excellent event with a host of great skills on display, attracting a big crowd from town and country.
He paid tribute to a “great” organising committee. “I worked with a wonderful committee of guys and girls who put it all together,” he said.
Scott McKenzie won the overall championship in the Gulf Oil Silver Plough; Bob Mehrtens won the Farmfields Fuel Reversible, Paul Houghton the Johnson Gluyas New Holland Vintage Ploughing and John and Sharon Chynoweth the Rural News Horse Plough.
