All about a girl
by Ann van Engelen
Marian Hughes is opening her second all about a Girl store in the old Smith and Boston site in Prebbleton.
“We are very excited to expand and are aiming to open the store in mid-May,” says Marian.
“We established as a gift shop in 2005, and like most things in Christchurch, the earthquakes changed us. We had to reinvent ourselves, so we shifted into contemporary fashion in the Bush Inn Mall. Our journey has been exciting and ever-changing. During the past year, we have changed a lot of our labels into a more affordable price point with relaxed, easy wear clothing. We are also offering children’s clothing now because customers were asking us for them.”
The store carries well-known labels including Elm, Silent Theory, PQ Collection, Betty Basics and Homelee.
“Clothing is my passion as I used to be a dressmaker many years ago and have always enjoyed working with fabrics and fashion. I love everything about the industry and giving ladies confidence by providing a well-chosen outfit that is selected for individual body shapes and personalities.
“Our clothing is affordable and functional as these are the top things in my mind when I choose. Everybody deserves to be able to dress well, with that modern twist and edge to their style. The all about a Girl website is a good place for customers to see our range as well. We are looking forward to being involved in the local community and supporting local businesses here in Prebbleton as well.”
