Triathlon series final leg

The event, run by the Selwyn Sports Trust, historically attracts a diverse field of athletes to Lake Crichton a world-class man-made events venue near Dunsandel, and this year is no exception said trust chief executive, Michael Wilson.

“A major goal of the series is to be an event for first-timers, and it is really pleasing seeing people’s confidence grow over the course of the series.”

Mr Wilson said the first two legs of the series had seen a large range of athletes, young and old, test themselves.

“The series is a very welcoming environment for those new to the sport, and we encourage families and friends to come along and support the competitors. We try to make it a great family time.

“The Frontrunner series is a great advertisement for our sport and the Selwyn district.”

Mr Wilson said the Friday evening series allows for all competitors, young and old, experienced and first timers, to finish their working week with a race. Entrants can enter individually or in a team.

Race time starts at 6.30pm, Friday, March 1 at 1141 Frasers Rd, Dunsandel.
