Encouraging artistic abilities

TM Dance World students have been kept busy with creativity and recently joined with their on-site neighbours Creative Sparks at the Darfield studio.
“The programme was a great success and an introduction to the world of art and dance with more than 130 students attending the classes,” says TM Dance World Studios director, Tara McKeown.
“The children learnt new moves in jazz, hip-hop and acrobatics in addition to discovering new painting techniques, drawing skills and creative crafts.
“They also joined together to enjoy a movie and popcorn at the end
of each day, and new friendships were made.
“We specialise in offering dance programmes to students from three years old to advanced levels.
“The studio is part of many national and international dance organisations that allow us to teach fun and creative dance syllabus throughout the year including ballet, tap, contemporary and acrobatic arts,” says Tara.
“Students are currently working on new routines for competitions, and we also hold a large end of year show. In term three, pupils will present their work for grading.”
This year the team will be travelling to competitions in Christchurch, Timaru and Blenheim.
“We have a team of 10 talented teachers who are enthusiastic and passionate about the art of dance and offer free trial lessons for anyone interested in attending lessons, and since we opened the new studio one year ago, we have grown to 135 students attending classes weekly.”
