Treating someone special

by Ann Van Engelen

Valentine’s day is nearly upon us and this is a good opportunity to celebrate special relationships, whether with a significant other, parent, grandparent, daughter, son or special friend.

Treating someone to a special outing can be made simple at the Hornby Working Men’s Club and MSA Inc. Back in 1955, the club’s founding members created the facilities as an affordable place for working men to relax.

From those humble beginnings, the club has grown into one of the community’s most valuable assets and provides a unique mix of entertainment, dining and bars that cater to a broad range of people.

There is a wide selection of cabinet food through to plated meals available with fresh daily specials, dreamy desserts and a great atmosphere to ensure you enjoy your time out. Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner — phone 03 349 9026 for reservations and enquiries.

The Oxford Club and Bistro celebrate a long and colourful past since it was founded in 1887.

Both membership and the building have grown along with the township and today also forms an integral part of the community and has become a family orientated social centre. With a new menu and the relaunching of the restaurant, Oscars Place, on Friday, February 8, this is the perfect place to enjoy time with that special person, no matter who they are — a takeaway bar is also on-site. For enquiries or to make a booking call 03 312 4411.

Joining the local clubs helps support the community and brings people together for social times.

They are a place to entertain and be entertained, make new friends and enjoy activities such as pool, darts, outings and a variety of competitions and dining experiences including birthdays, anniversaries and special events.
