Pool parties are a cool part of Summer in Selwyn. You’ll find them in Southbridge, Darfield and Sheffield

Summer still sizzles

by Mike Isle

Summer in Selwyn rocks on this month with plenty of events left on the event-packed calendar.

For some relief from the heat, the cool option is to head along to one of the Selwyn Pool Parties at Southbridge, Darfield or Sheffield. There will be inflatables, games, prizes, a sausage sizzle and DJ playing your favourite songs. Then on February 2, ease back into the school year at our own Floatchella Pool Party with lilos and local musicians.

For a more physical encounter, join Selwyn Libraries at the Foster Park Playground every Monday and Wednesday in January for fun activities and games.

At your local library, you make and illustrate your own digital or paper book with Think, Create Write or try some of our crafty ideas at PaperPlay. If games are more your thing, bring your friends and family down for our Games Challenges.

Summer Reading Bingo is running until January 25, collect your bingo card from the library.

Don’t forget you can have 24/7 access to eBooks, eAudio and eMagazines with your library card and PIN.
