Thrilling acts are all part of the modern circus

Circus comes to town

Even in this digital age, the traditional circus still has an irresistible attraction for young and old. Moreover, there are few circuses who do it better than Zirka Circus, which opens a five-day season in Rolleston Reserve tonight.

Zirka Circus has successfully been entertaining families in New Zealand for more than 10 years but their all-new show, La Unica, takes entertainment to a whole new height of entertainment — literally.

Whether you like action-packed daredevil acts performed at breath-taking heights or beautiful, balletic and poetic acts, there is something for everyone in this new show.

What it doesn’t have are animals. In the modern age, they no longer form part of the circus environment, and in reality, the modern audience doesn’t expect or want them.

Instead, what they want — and get — from Zirka Circus are world-class performers and performances that thrill and entertain.

On that stage, or more correctly circus ring, Zirka Circus certainly delivers — 20 plus top world-class performers showcasing death-defying acrobatics and amazing illusions, with more than a little light relief courtesy of the hilarious clowns. Zirka Circus the family-friendly circus guarantees you a whole new circus experience.

The first performance is tonight at 7pm, and there is a number of matinee and evening performances with the final Rolleston performance on Sunday at 4.30 pm. The circus then moves to Ashburton.
