Special twilight market

A local mother-daughter team is giving Selwyn shoppers a chance to stock the Christmas stocking with something a little different — perhaps something even a little crazy.
Denise Leeds and Debbie Herridge who have been running the Selwyn Twilight Market for the last three years have organised a special indoor-outdoor market at the Rolleston Community Centre on Saturday, December 1.
It follows the success of a similar market held at the centre in June.
The December market is expected to have over 67 stalls with goods and gifts ranging from beeswax wraps, wooden crafts, recycled records, soap and beauty products and just about everything in between. Stallholders range in age from six upwards, Debbie said. For her, that is part of the attraction of the market.
“Denise and I really enjoy running these markets. We have met a huge amount of amazingly talented people and have gone on to make lasting friendships. We really love encouraging craftspeople to give the market a go, and we love to see how they go on to grow and attend other markets. Passion makes all the difference, and when you love what you do, it’s easy,” she said.
The 2018 Christmas Twilight Market will be open from 1pm to 4pm.
Following the success of the June indoor market, Denise and Debbie are planning on having three similar markets in 2019.
