Toy library looking for space

by Laurie Willetts

A group of local mums passionate about giving Rolleston its first toy library say they are making good progress but could do with a little help.

The proposal is the brainchild of Fiona Morland. “We enjoyed being part of a toy library in Christchurch, and I was surprised that there wasn’t one here,” she said.

“With so many young families in Rolleston I thought we should set one up.”

However the committee set up by Fiona is struggling to find suitable premises and Fiona said the fact that Rolleston is such a fast-growing young community means that free space is hard to come by and they would welcome any offers of space — from potentially shared facilities to sheds, containers or garages.

To start things off, a toy drive and car boot sale will be held at Rolleston College at 10am on November 24.

The group has a Facebook page — Rolleston Toy Library — and Fiona can be reached at rollestontoylibrary@gmail.com.
