As fete would have it: Springston School’s kapa haka group delivered a rousing welcome to invited guests, families, students and staff attending last Saturday’s fete celebrating the school’s 150th birthday. Principal Dianne Prendergast said the fete, attended by past and present students, rekindled wonderful memories for some and forged new memories for others. The school is one of Canterbury’s oldest, established at a time in the mid-19th Century when fewer than 66% school-age pupils in Canterbury actually attended a school.
