Selwyn Sounds shaping up

by Anonymous Author

International music stars, Kiwi icons and Aussie rockers will all feature in next year’s Selwyn Sounds musical event in Lincoln.

It will be the third year the event has been staged with around 7,000 attending the inaugural event in 2017 — while a sell-out crowd of 10,000 turned up for this year’s event.

Veteran singer, Leo Sayer of You Make Me Feel Like Dancing fame, will headline the 2018 event alongside the Little River Band from Australia.

INXS frontman and Noiseworks singer, Jon Stevens, is also part of the line-up of talent at the event — which includes one of Australian rock music’s most enduring artists, Ross Wilson.

The line-up for the 2019 Selwyn Sounds is a bit of a roll call of some of the best from this side of the Tasman including country rock legend, Midge Marsden. Adding to the Kiwi flavour will be the Golden Kiwis, a band featuring some of the greatest names in New Zealand rock.

The Golden Kiwis band is made up of Peter Urlich (The Dudes), Harry Lyon (Hello Sailor), Rikki Morris (Crocodiles), Cherie Mathieson (Sola Rosa), Rick Ball (Hello Sailor) and Tony Waine (The Narcs).

The band will play an array of kiwi hits including legendary tunes such as Gutter Black, Blue Lady and Walking the Light.

The event will be held at the Lincoln Domain on Saturday, March 2 — tickets are now on sale from selwynsounds.co.nz.
