Darfield will play host to the Selwyn District Council’s Have A Go Day later this month and locals are being invited to try as many sports as possible.

Have a Go Day is designed to showcase the sport and recreation activities Darfield and the wider Selwyn district has to offer.

In 2017 this event, which was held in Lincoln, saw more than 1,200 people giving sports, activities and games a go.

This year’s event will be held at the Darfield Recreation Centre and domain on Sunday, August 26.

There will be a huge variety of indoor and outdoor sports, activities, games and challenges on offer including squash, basketball, archery, golf, softball, bowls and more.

To keep the crowd going there will be coffee, a sausage sizzle, and music as well as a competition with prizes on offer.

Attendees can complete a ‘Have a Go Day’ passport at the event for a chance to win one of three sport vouchers valued at $150, $100 and $50.

Complete five challenges, get your passport stamped and enter it in the ‘letter box’ at the Selwyn District Council marquee before 2.45pm. The draw will take place at 2.50pm. A full list of sports and activities will be out soon and people are being advised to check out the Facebook event page for more details.
