Community volunteer scholarships

Selwyn volunteers have until the end of the month to apply for one of Outward Bound’s ‘Who’s the Finest’ (WTF) Community Scholarships.

Applications close soon for the scholarships, which provide up to 75% funding on a 21-day Classic Outward Bound course.

“If you’ve been out and about in your community trying to make a difference, whether it be through volunteering for local organisations, investing your time in supporting worthy causes or coaching, teaching, tutoring and generally helping others, you could well be the finest that we’ve been searching for,” an Outward Bound spokesperson said.

“Thanks to our generous funders, we have a few of these WTF scholarships to offer for our upcoming 21-day Classic courses.”

Applicants need to be 18–26 years old and be actively volunteering in the community. Limited scholarships are available for courses in June, July and August.

“Successful scholarship applicants will receive 50% to 75% of their course fee paid, meaning the most they’ll pay is half of the usual course fee for this life-changing experience.”

Applications can be made at outwardbound.co.nz before June 30 or call 0800 688 927, email jwilson@outwardbound.co.nz or head to the Outward Bound website for more information.
