Greenpark dominates Lincoln

by Kent Caddick

Greenpark A has opened up a three-point lead at the top of the Selwyn senior netball competition after handing defending champions Lincoln its second loss of the season on Saturday.

For the first half of the match the young Lincoln side was able to keep in touch with the undefeated Greenpark A team, but as the match wore on Greenpark took control to run out 64–57 winners.

Broadfield, which had beaten Lincoln earlier in the season, is now three points behind the competition leaders after being made to work hard for the points against Greenpark B at the Lincoln Events Centre on Saturday.

Greenpark B was in the game for most of the match, but some aggressive defence from Broadfield was matched by its accuracy in the shooting circle, and at the final whistle, it emerged the winner, 51–45.
In the other match of the round Southbridge A recorded its first win of the season with a 76–17 thumping of West Melton.

In the Premier B division, Southbridge B went three points clear with a narrow 36–32 win over Rolleston, which like Southbridge had been undefeated prior to the weekend’s action.

Lincoln B held on to third spot with a comprehensive 42–34 win over Burnham and Broadfield B was too good for Halswell, running out 54–29 winners.

Southbridge’s Tylie McMillan looks to get a pass through the West
Melton defence.
