New RSA service for Selwyn
by Kent Caddick
The Returned and Services Association is now offering a new welfare service in Rolleston.
The RSA drop-in service, will be open on Wednesdays from 4pm to 7pm at Selwyn District Council’s Rolleston Community House on Rolleston Drive.
Templeton RSA welfare officer, David Sands, said with the growth of Rolleston as a home to many Burnham-based servicemen and women it meant they wanted to open another clinic to complement the one they run in Burnham.
“The hope is that this service will provide more convenient access for past and present servicemen and women and their families to get help for any welfare related matter,” Mr Sands said.
“The clinic will provide a range of services including a link to Veterans’ Affairs, completion of application forms and coordination of financial needs. This service offered is not just for RSA members, any serviceman or woman may visit.”
He said they were delighted with the support they got from the district council.
Council Community Development Officer, Lisa Larkin, said council was happy to support the service by providing space at the Rolleston Community House as a base for the RSA’s drop in clinics.
To contact the clinic outside of hours please phone Josien at the Templeton RSA Tuesday, Thursday or Friday between 9.15am and 1.30pm on 03 349 4701 or for urgent contact David Sands on 027 201 7747.
