Getting physical at West Melton
by Anonymous Author
The busy, and physical, start to the year has continued for students at West Melton Primary School.
Last week all the year four to year six girls participated in a futsal training session with Sam and Annalie from Mainland Football.
The school’s promotions officer, Rita Spadoni, said the girls absolutely loved the session and they are now sending four teams to participate in the Girls Only Football/Futsal Festival at English Park on Thursday, March 15.
Also last week, the school held its year four to year eight duathlon, where learners had a chance to compete as an individual entry or as part of a team.
Each year group has a set distance that they need to cover. For the year four pupils, it was their first chance in competing in a school duathlon and enjoyed by all.
The school’s top year five to year eight competitors now have a chance to compete at the Selwyn Central Zone Duathlon being held at Motukarara Domain in early March.
And on Friday at the Duathlon Cup Champions were presented with their trophies. They were: Senior Boys’ Cup Champ: Ted; Senior Girls’ Cup: Isla; Junior Boys’ Cup: Brooklyn; Junior Girls’ Cup: Sophia.
