Community picnic in domain

An enthusiastic group of West Melton residents met up at the local domain last week, to take part in the town’s annual Picnic in the Park event.

The event was one of over 70 Selwyn District Council and community events to be held as part of the council’s Summer in Selwyn event programme, which will run through to April.

Council’s senior events and recreation adviser, Dave Tippett, said there is something for everyone to enjoy this summer in Selwyn.

“Summer events are fun for the whole family and help make Selwyn a great place to live by connecting people to their community,” Mr Tippett said.

“We are proud to present even more events than in previous years, with a great range of community organised events on offer as well, including Christmas parades, community markets, fêtes and picnics, and fitness-related events,” he said.

Upcoming events include: Leeston Picnic in the Park and Music on the Green, Leeston Park Thursday, February 22; Selwyn Parenting Network Children’s Day, Foster Park, Rolleston Sunday, March 4; Burnham Picnic in the Park, Freyberg Reserve, Thursday, March 8; Darfield Music on the Green, Westview Park Sunday, March 11 and Lincoln Music on the Green, The Lincoln Green Sunday, March 18.
