Greendale celebrates

The air was buzzing at Greendale with the happy chatter of more than one hundred people who enjoyed the unveiling of the new signage at the TW Adams Arboretum.

Mayor Sam Broughton cut the ribbon and spoke of the importance of this heritage site that was established by TW Adams in the 1960s, because of his love of Greendale and his love of trees.

The calm and peaceful atmosphere was enjoyed by all, as they picnicked under the shade of the mature trees and children enjoyed the natural playground, running around the pathways, collecting sticks and pine cones.

The picnic was reminiscent of the many picnics that were a feature of life in early Greendale, and there was a consensus that there needs to be more of these community activities. The arboretum is open to the public.
