Turkey for Christmas

One local family will remember Christmas 2017 for the turkey — but not because he was the main course! The largest Turkey Theresa Murray had ever seen appeared in her driveway the Friday before Christmas. He was described as ‘at least three feet tall with beautiful black, white and metallic coloured feathers’. “I had a giggle to myself,” Says Theresa, “thinking ‘does he not realise he is an endangered species at this time of year’? The avian guest stayed over for Christmas day (where ham was on the menu), entertaining guests young and old before being reunited with his owners. Far from being a seasonal meal, this turkey is a year-round pet who has a ‘Mrs Turkey’ and a brood of chicks ready to hatch soon.
