Leeston-Southbridge heads into the Christmas break at the top of CRV Ambreed Country Premier one day cricket competition standings after a win in its final match of 2017.

Leeston-Southbridge, which has lost just once this season, won the toss and piled on 218/7 against Oxford-Rangiora at Southbridge Domain.

Opener Liam O’Sullivan batted well to anchor the innings with 94 off 129 balls, and was well supported by skipper Chris Beatson who made 69 off 99 balls.

In reply, Oxford-Rangiora found themselves in early strife on with Dougald Munro taking three top-order wickets including the prized scalp of David Fulton for a golden duck.

Part-time off-spinner Toby Doyle picked up two wickets for just one run as Oxford-Rangiora collapsed to be all out for 122.

Meanwhile, an unbroken seventh wicket partnership of 62 between Tim Harrison and Callum Simpson in 51 balls got second placed Sefton home over Lincoln at Lincoln Domain.

Batting first Lincoln posted 190/4 in their allotted 45 overs but it wasn’t enough to keep the defending champions at bay.

At Southbrook Park, the home side posted 216 which proved just enough to elude Darfield-South Malvern.

In reply, Darfield-South Malvern fell short of the total despite 66 from Michael Pauling and Andrew Inch scoring an unbeaten 48.

At Cheviot Domain, Weedons continued its winning ways with a 54 run win over Cheviot.
