Motor festival ready to go

Selwyn’s first ever motoring festival will roar into life this weekend.
The Selwyn Motor Fest and Family Fun Day will be held on Sunday, November 26, opposite the new roundabout by Rolleston College.
It will feature a wide variety of vehicles including classic cars, muscle cars, motorbikes, tractors, luxury cars, trucks and sports cars.
The Selwyn District Council provided an event grant to help get it off the ground.
Rolleston-based district councillor Craig Watson who has been helping with the organisation of the event, said there has been an amazing community spirit which has been behind getting the Motor Fest off the ground. “Honestly, I think this event is going to grow each year and become a feature event for the district.” Besides the hundreds of cars, trucks, motorbikes and tractors on show, there will be exhibits from local emergency services, the New Zealand Trucking Association, vintage clubs, rally cars, Selwyn District Council and Selwyn Parenting Network.
For the kids there are bouncy castles, face painting, pony rides and more, with over 15 food vendors and 30 plus market holders on site.
The event gets underway at 10am this Sunday and runs through until 3pm.
