Celebrating Selwyn’s cultural diversity
by Kent Caddick
Around 3,000 people descended on Lincoln Domain on Sunday to enjoy Selwyn’s second district wide CultureFest.
Highlight of the day for many were the musical and dance performances from 20 different ethnic and cultural groups, including groups from China, Japan, Iran, Russia and Poland.
There were plenty of other activities to keep the large crowd entertained with henna tattoos, face painting, pedalmania, bouncy castles and other games.
Attendees were also able to sample cuisine from a wide variety of food stalls featuring foods from 15 different countries including Nigeria, Persia and Poland. Next year’s event will be held in Rolleston.
