Entries closing for Darfield Artweek

Selwyn artists have just over a week left to get their entries in for this year’s Malvern Community Arts Council’s popular Darfield Artweek event.
The arts council is currently accepting applications from established, emerging, and local artists who wish to exhibit during Darfield Artweek, but only until Friday, September 22.
“Artweek is a highly anticipated event and we are expecting a wide variety of entries,” MCAC chairperson Philip Baldwin said.
“We anticipate that over 300 artworks will be on exhibit, including painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, wood carving and fabric works.
“As many as 120 artists from Selwyn, Christchurch, and country-wide are expected to enter.” Mr Baldwin said they would also like to thank Selwyn District Council for its generous support of Artweek through its Events Fund programme.
“This grant allows us to meet a number of significant expenses that are necessary for Artweek’s success,” he said.
Application forms are available at the Selwyn Gallery in Darfield, or on the website, selwyngallery.co.nz/artweek.
Tickets for opening night at the Darfield Rec Centre on Friday, October 6 at 7pm, can be purchased in advance for $15 from the Selwyn Gallery, or $20 at the door on the night.
Entry to Darfield Artweek’s three exhibition spaces, the Rec Centre, Selwyn Gallery, and the Darfield Library, is free from Saturday, October 7 to Sunday, October 15.
