Entries wanted for artweek

The Malvern Community Arts Council is calling for Selwyn artists to submit their entries for the 2017 edition of Darfield Artweek.

The annual event will this year be held from Friday, October 6 through to Sunday, October 15.

Malvern Community Arts Council (MCAC) chair Philip Baldwin said the annual celebration of art will feature exhibits in the Darfield Recreation Centre, the Selwyn Gallery, and the Darfield Library.

“We anticipate that these three venues will house exhibitions showcasing over 300 artworks submitted by as many as 120 artists from Selwyn district, the city of Christchurch, and countrywide.” Mr Baldwin said many artists and visitors come to Artweek to spend a day in Darfield and the surrounding area to enjoy the art exhibits, patronise local businesses, and enjoy the attractions of the area.

The judge for this year’s event will be Jan Robertson, who teaches art at Rangiora High School.

Artist application forms are available at the Selwyn Gallery in Darfield, or on the website, selwyngallery.co.nz/artweek.
