The hit movie ‘The Wedding Singer’ is to come to life in the latest production by the Halswell Drama Group.
The stage production is based on the hit movie starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore and is set in the 1980s.
The story follows Robbie Hart, played by Troy Scott, who is New Jersey’s number one wedding singer and the life of every party until his own fiancée Linda (Bella Hill) strands him at the altar.
Halswell Drama Group spokesman Tim Gunther said the group is a small, but passionate group of locals who have been performing for the benefit of their community for over 50 years. “Don’t miss the chance to join the 80’s party of the year, with a musical that promises to get you up dancing faster than your dad at a wedding,” he said.
“The show features hundreds of great 80s costumes, with a fair share of puffy sleeves and big shoulder pads.”
The show is directed by Carla Weber, with musical direction by Will Ernest and choreography by Sarah Hollander.
The show will run from September 14 to 16, and 21 to 23, at the Halswell Community Hall on Halswell Road. Tickets are available from www.iTicket.co.nz.
