Lincoln finishes top

Lincoln has secured top sport in the Selwyn netball premiership heading into the playoffs.

The defending champions were too strong for Halswell at the Lincoln Event Centre on Saturday running out winners 70-44 to finish the round robin competition unbeaten.

Lincoln’s closest rivals Greenpark were made to work hard in the first quarter of their match against Southbridge but as the game wore on Greenpark controlled much of the possession to run out comfortable winners 83-37.

Despite the loss Southbridge have made the semi-finals but will face an uphill battle to progress to the final when it comes up against the Lincoln juggernaut this coming Saturday.

Greenpark will face Broadfield in the other semi after Broadfield accounted for winless West Melton 64-29.

Lincoln is also the front runner in the Premier 2 competition with Lincoln B finishing top of the points table, one point clear of Rolleston, with Burnham and Dunsandel securing the other two playoff spots. Lincoln B will play Dunsandel in the semis while Rolleston take on Burnham.
