Selwyn’s annual ‘Have a Go Day’ is on this Sunday.

The annual event run by the Selwyn District Council is now in its third year and is being held between 12 and 3pm at the Lincoln Event Centre and Domain.

Council’s senior events and recreation advisor Dave Tippett said around 30 indoor and outdoor sports, activities, games and challenges are being planned.

“Have a Go Day aims to showcase the sport and recreation activities Lincoln and the wider Selwyn District has to offer.

“Last year it was a very popular event with over 1,000 people enjoying a day of trying out new things.” Mr Tippett said among the sports on offer will be golf, hockey, rugby league, highland games, yoga, basketball, archery and mini gym.

“Those attending the event will receive a ‘Have a Go Day passport’ on arrival,” he said.

“Everyone who completes five challenges can get their passport stamped and enter the main prize draw for a chance to win $250 in sport vouchers. Coffee, a sausage sizzle, and live music will be provided as part of the entertainment.”
