The new $3.9 million Dunsandel Community Centre has been officially opened.
Selwyn MP Amy Adams was on hand to cut the ribbon on the new facility in Dunsandel Domain at a ceremony recently.
The building replaces the original Dunsandel Community Hall which was located in the township and demolished after being damaged in the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes.
Selwyn Mayor Sam Broughton said the new facility will be a fantastic asset to the Dunsandel area.
“A project like this doesn’t happen overnight and it doesn’t happen by accident. It takes a lot of planning and contributions from a number of people.
“This beautiful building is a testament to the dedication of the community, with a total of $350,000 raised in donations, as well as generous contributions from Rata Foundation and The New Zealand Lottery Grants Board.” he says.
The new Community Centre is a multi-purpose facility which will be used by sporting and community groups, businesses, and for events.
