Supreme winner on display

Works by Darfield Artweek’s supreme award winner Sarah Dodson will be featured in the latest exhibition at the Selwyn gallery.
Her work along with that of Bianca Scrimgeour and Charles Hannah are on display at the gallery in Darfield in an exhibition entitled ‘Hoof, Paw, and Claw’.
Malvern Community Arts Council administrator Rose Gerard said people are drawn to images of animals because of the emotional responses they create.
“The Selwyn Gallery’s newest exhibition capitalises on this fact with a wonderful mix of animals portrayed in watercolours and oil paintings.
“Their intricate details suggest character and evoke emotion in the viewer, making this an exhibition not to be missed.”
Sarah Dodson, who is in her fourth and final year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Canterbury University, was awarded the prestigious Malvern Community Arts Council Premier Award at Darfield Artweek 2016.
“Oil paint is Sarah’s preferred medium, and the works in this exhibition focus on animals,” Ms Gerard said.
The exhibition at the Selwyn gallery opened last week and will run through until August 24. The gallery is open daily (except Mondays) from 10am to 4pm for the duration of the exhibition.
