Artists in the making

The Lakeland Art Centre in Leeston played host to groups of budding young artists over the holidays.
The youngsters, aged between nine and 12, tried their hands at a variety of tasks including making their own versions of art on display, creating mosaics, painting stones and making cards.
The gallery in Leeston’s main street was opened two months ago with a tuition area alongside the gallery space.
The gallery held two Children’s School Holiday Art and Craft sessions over the holidays, which were organised by Jill Lemon and Averil Southward.
As well as artist exhibitions, the Lakeland Art Centre holds a number of art tutorials for both beginner and experienced artists throughout the year. For more information contact Averil Southward on 03 324 2118.
