Broadfield a title contender

Broadfield has secured its place as the team most likely to wrest the Selwyn premier netball title away from Lincoln with a win over Halswell on Saturday afternoon.

In the final match of round two of the premier competition Broadfield accounted for Halswell 68-45 at the Lincoln Events Centre.

The win puts them into second place on the points table, three behind Lincoln and five clear of third placed Greenpark.

Greenpark locked down third place when it rolled Rolleston 83-41, although the young Rolleston side kept pace with Greenpark in the first two quarters before running out of steam in the second half. Lincoln stretched its unbeaten run this season with a 77-39 win over Southbridge.

In Premier 2 grade action, Lincoln B beat West Melton B 47-36, Dunsandel overcame Halswell B 55-44 and West Melton A recorded a 57-43 win over Burnham.

West Melton A lead the grade by two points over Burnham, with Lincoln B and Dunsandel seven points behind the top two.
