The Selwyn Aquatic Centre will mark the fourth anniversary of its opening with a Birthday Bonanza event this month.
The district pool complex in Rolleston, which was built at a cost of a round $15 million, first opened its doors in June, 2013.
Selwyn aquatic facilities manager Kathy Moore said more than 1.1 million visitors have been recorded since its opening.
“The Selwyn Aquatic Centre is used for a wide variety of community events and programmes such as swim meets, sports club trainings, family fun pool parties, disability care, injury recovery and aquafit classes. As well as this the swim school provides swimming lessons for all ages and abilities and currently over 1,500 children attend weekly swim lessons.”
The Birthday Bonanza event is being held on Sunday, June 25 from 2pm to 4pm.
Ms Moore said a variety of fun activities will be on offer for the whole family, including inflatables, games, colouring-in competition, music, sweet treats, chalk drawing, spot prizes and a birthday cake. Normal pool admission fees will apply.
