Rolleston starts premier campaign

by Kent Caddick

Newly promoted Rolleston started its Selwyn premier netball match against Broadfield with enthusiasm, but in the end couldn’t keep pace with its more experienced opponents.

Broadfield proved too strong in running out winners 65-34 at the Lincoln Events Centre on Saturday.

The senior Rolleston team has gone through a rebuild after last season in which it finished runner-up to perennial champions Lincoln.

It was promoted to the Selwyn top flight competition after leading the Premier 2 competition this season. In other matches, competition leaders Lincoln accounted for Halswell 66-43, while Greenpark was too good for Southbridge, winning 73-50 in a high scoring match. This weekend Lincoln will take on Broadfield in a top of the table clash, while Greenpark face Halswell and Rolleston take on Southbridge.
