Enthusiasm shines through at show

Overcast and drizzly weather did little to dampen the enthusiasm of those taking part in this year’s Malvern A&P Show on the weekend.

This year was the 118th running of the annual show held at the Sheffield Domain on Saturday. Malvern A&P Show President Jane Jenkins said while the weather may have deterred some from coming along those who turned up to take part thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

“It was a great occasion and everyone rallied together to make it a wonderful day,” she said.

“It was pleasing to see all the young ones competing with such enthusiasm and excitement, especially in the horse section.

“There was another top turnout in the cattle section across all breeds.”

Ms Jenkins there was a lot going on over the weekend and with the South Island Agricultural Field days in Kirwee this week the number of exhibitors were also affected.

“But look we have been running the show for almost 120 years and we will keep going as it is such a big part of our rural life,” she said.

“The committee did a fabulous job and they really punched above their weight with no real dramas on the day.”
