Selwyn MP Amy Adams says Lincoln’s new primary school will help to ease the pressures that come with significant growth.
Set to open in 2019, Lincoln South Primary School will be a full primary school (Years 1–8). Stage one of the $14 million project will cater for 450 students, with the roll due to grow to 700.
It’s the latest in a raft of new schools popping up across central Selwyn with three new primary schools and a high school opening in Rolleston over the last 12 months .
Ms Adams said she is delighted Lincoln is to gain another primary school.
“Selwyn is a very attractive area for young families, and as the population grows, it’s important that our community’s schools have the capacity they need to accommodate roll growth.
“This investment will help ease the pressure on Lincoln Primary School and will mean our education infrastructure is keeping up with the significant growth of our region.”
Ms Adams said, like all the new schools and redevelopments this government has invested in, Lincoln South Primary will have state-of-the-art, modern and comfortable buildings to ensure local kids and their teachers can work in the best possible learning environment.
“This investment is wonderful news for Selwyn and comes as part of the government’s $1.137 billion Greater Christchurch Education Renewal property programme.”
