Kiwi icons for Selwyn Sounds

Two blokes from Lincoln, one a local pub owner and the other an event and business manager, one day found themselves discussing live events in the town and the wider Selwyn district.

Determining there were few large scale events that brought both the community together and added significant economic benefits to the local community, they identified an opportunity to create an event for Selwyn.

Over a series of conversations, Selwyn Sounds was born, with David Parlane and Craig Bradford forming Three Coins Gentlemen Events company.

Combined, the pair have more than 60 years of business experience in hospitality, event management, media, marketing and logistics.

“The festival will be based on a chilled and relaxed day of music, food, family and community,” the pair said.

Featuring some of New Zealand’s all-time favourite bands, the inaugural Selwyn Sounds event will be held at the Lincoln Domain starting at 11.30am this Saturday and coincides with the culmination of Lincoln University’s orientation week.

Headlining the day will be Mi-Sex’s only Christchurch show as well as the reformed Dragon performing again in New Zealand.

Also gracing the stage will be Kiwi pop icon Jordan Luck and his new band, acclaimed songstresses Sharon O’Neill, Annie Crummer, Margaret Urlich and Debbie Harwood, and multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Jason Kerrison.

“We have assembled an outstanding line-up for our first ever event of this size in Lincoln,” David Parlane said.

“We all remember what we were doing when these artists first came into the music scene in New Zealand, and to have them perform all these years later with new material as well as old is an honour for the town. “The line-up is for everyone and we look forward to an incredible first year event.” Mr Parlane said they are setting their sights on making Selwyn Sounds an annual event for Lincoln.
