West Melton parties in the park

It was West Melton residents’ turn to enjoy an evening of picnicking in the park recently.

The event, held late last week, was one in a series of Picnic in the Park events being run as part of Selwyn District Council’s Summer in Selwyn programme from January to April.

There was a good turnout of local families for the evening in West Melton Domain and they were entertained by a variety of acts including Darfield musician Holly Kimber and clown Adam Allsorts, who proved to be a drawcard for the children with his bubbles, balloon sculpting and mini bike.

West Melton Scouts also ran a sausage sizzle at the event to help raise funds for members who will be attending a jamboree in the North Island later in the year. This week it is Leeston’s turn for a Picnic in the Park while Prebbleton residents will have their chance for a picnic get-together on March 15.
